To be completely honest, I was a little disappointed with this month’s Birchbox. From the vibrant box and card saying Let’s Do This!, I assumed this box would be filled with bits and pieces to get me pumped up for the new year. Unfortunately, I discovered my box contains the usual product samples that are currently collecting in a drawer.
By no means was this a terrible box, I just wasn’t thrilled with the contents. I received five products as per usual. Perlier Revitalizing Body Butter was the first item I tested out. This body butter does have a lovely scent but is somewhat sticky. I am tremendously picky when it comes to the maximum amount of stickiness a lotion/body butter can have before I dismiss it. This product is borderline. It will be on reserve for traveling or my handbag.
Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream was the next product I played around with. I have to say that I really enjoy this eye cream. One of the main features I like about this product is the packaging. It allows you to dispense the exact amount of eye cream you intend to use–often eye creams dispense far too much and I feel like I am wasting a lot of product. It works relatively well but mainly I am hooked on the packaging.
The Neil George Shampoo and Conditioner were the next items I spotted. I do not enjoy receiving shampoo and conditioner samples because subscription services tend to overdo on these types of samples and I have far too many little bottles or foil packets that I have no intention of using. I have not tried these and they will simply stay in a drawer until some distant date in the future when I need them for trip.
Finally, I spotted this little gem: the Coastal Scents Revealed Palette. This sample was sadly small but did offer four wearable shades. My mini palette came in the shade Latte with a few brown options that remind me of the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. Often I receive eyeshadow samples that are too bold for an everyday look but these four shadows are perfect. They will also be ideal for traveling with their tiny size. Although this sample is small, I am glad that I received it.
That was all from my January Birchbox.
