One of the things I always look forward to in May is snatching up my birthday beauty freebies. A number of beauty brands offer free birthday gifts during the month of your birthday (provided you are signed up for their loyalty programs). There are a few good ones worth mentioning.
Sephora: I’m pretty sure I’ve been picking up my annual birthday gift from Sephora since I was in middle school. Over the years I’ve always looked forward to receiving smaller versions of popular products in May. For 2015, Sephora is handing out deluxe size versions of the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella and the Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien. For VIB Rouge, we also get the NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto. To receive this gift, you must be signed up as a Beauty Insider (no purchase necessary) and you can pick up your gift anytime during the month of your birthday.
Ulta: Similar to Sephora, Ulta has an annual birthday gift as well. The gift, however, is available closer to your birthday so I haven’t received mine yet. Once you’ve signed up for an Ulta card, you will receive an e-mail around the week of your birthday. Last year I scored a full sized Calvin Klein mascara. I’m looking forward to my gift this year!
Bare Minerals: Bare Minerals offers a birthday gift for members of their Friends and Benefits program (FAB). During the month of your birthday, you can pop into a store to pick up your gift. This year we get to pick between two lip glosses. I opted for the shade Spark Plug (a pinky nude). Make sure you are signed up prior to going in for your birthday gift!
Benefit Cosmetics: Benefit offers a really awesome birthday service: free eyebrow wax at their Brow Bar! The week after your birthday you are eligible to get your wax. Make sure to call ahead for an appointment at a Benefit counter (I went to Macy’s last year). Also, I didn’t realize I’d need cash for the tip last year–don’t make my mistake!
