Since Christmas is less than a week away and (hopefully) we all have a little time off, I figured it would be the perfect time to share some of my favorite Christmas movies on Netflix. Holiday movies always get me in the festive mood and I tend to regularly have them on in the background when I’m wrapping gifts or baking cookies. If I’m leaving any good ones out, please let me know in the comments!
1. Serendipity
This is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies. Two people meet on Christmas Eve in a department store in New York City. Both are intrigued but decide to see if fate brings them together in the future. Years later, although both are engaged, they are still thinking of each other and wonder what could have been.
2. Christmas with the Kranks
For some reason, I adore this movie. It is a pretty cheesy holiday movie in which Jamie Lee Curtis and Tim Allen decide to skip Christmas, as their daughter won’t be home for the holidays. The entire town is not so happy with this decision.
3. The Spirit of Christmas
I discovered this movie this year. Joe and I both enjoyed it, as a romantic comedy with more of a plot than most made-for-tv movies. When a lawyer must get an inn appraised and discovers a ghost comes to life in the inn for two weeks each year, what will happen?
4. 12 Dates of Christmas
If you need a light, fun Christmas movie, this one is perfect. The main character, Kate, is having an awful Christmas Eve but must re-live the same day twelve times, including a difficult blind date.
5. Radio City Christmas Spectacular
Although this may not be a movie, this is a fun and festive show to get you pumped this holiday season. Joe and I went to the show last year and absolutely loved it. Fortunately you don’t have to live in New York City to see this energetic show!
6. The Santa Clause
I believe Netflix just added this throwback holiday movie. I remember seeing this one in theaters so I always have to watch it around this time of year.
7. Miracle of 34th Street
My mom showed me this classic as a child. This version is the remake from 1994 but is great. Santa Claus must prove he is real to a disbelieving little girl [who happens to be played by Mara Wilson, aka Matilda].
8. A Christmas Kiss
This romantic comedy is so cute and sweet. I highly recommend it for a girls night in. Wendy finds herself kissing a mysterious man on a elevator, only to find out he is her boss’s boyfriend. As you might imagine, things get complicated quickly.
9. White Christmas
If you want a true classic, check out White Christmas. This film came out in 1954 and has an incredible cast. I’m glad Netflix has a few true classics!
10. A Very Murray Christmas
This special came to Netflix last fall. It is a musical comedy film. Bill Murray has a case of the Christmas blues, as he worries no one will come to his show when he gets snowed in in New York City. There are a ton of guest appearances and it is an all around entertaining show.
I sincerely hope you have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season.
