Good morning! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know that I spent the last weekend in Carmel. Hofsas House Hotel invited Joe and I to visit Carmel – we obviously couldn’t pass up that opportunity!
LOCATION
Between 3rd & 4th Ave on San Carlos Street. Fun fact: Carmel doesn’t have street addresses – you even have to go to the post office to get mail! Hofsas House is conveniently located in the middle of town – it is four blocks from Ocean Ave (all the shopping and restaurants) and less than 15 minutes walking to the beach. I’ll be sharing everything we did and saw in Carmel later this week!
HISTORY
Hofsas House Hotel was opened by Donna Hofsas in the late 1940’s. Donna expanded the hotel and added a pool in 1957. In the 1960’s, she added the north wing and a meeting room to the hotel. The hotel bears many personal touches. Donna commissioned her friend, artist Maxine Albro, to paint the welcome mural (pictured above) as well as three paintings in the lobby. The hotel has been in the family ever since and is now own run by Carrie Theis, who Joe and I met this weekend.
ROOM
We stayed in a deluxe king with a fireplace and ocean view. Our room was spacious and equipped with a small kitchenette. We used the fireplace both nights – it was so cozy! All the rooms have Dutch doors so you can let fresh air into your room. We liked airing out the room each morning after using the fireplace the night before. Hofsas House offers a variety of rooms – 38 total on their property. You can find everything from a smaller room with a queen bed to a suite for a bridal party or family vacation. They also have several dog friendly rooms (and a special dog package)!
Every guest has access to breakfast. Breakfast included coffee, juice, fruit, yogurt, and pastries from a local bakery. The pastries were really fresh and our favorite aspect of the breakfast. They serve breakfast in the lobby – there are a few chairs and a fireplace, however, we stopped by at peak times and had to take our breakfast to our room.
PACKAGES
Hofsas House offers several specials and packages. We were treated to the wine & cheese package [pictured above]. They also have some deals around town at a spa, several golf courses, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
