Last weekend Joe and I took a trip down to Carlsbad to visit the Flower Fields. I’d noticed this stunning spot on Instagram last spring. I told Joe that if we were living in California this spring, we were going to make a trip. And so we did!
My friend, Cierra (pictured above), went last spring and shared her tips with us. Cierra and I met back in 2010 when we were study abroad roommates in Spain and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding! It was lovely visiting the flower fields with Cierra, who lives in San Diego.
Cierra encouraged us to arrive early to get parking and avoid the crowds (and heat!). The flower field opens at 9AM every day. We tried to get there at 9AM but we were running a bit behind and we got in at 9:30AM. We managed to find the very last spot in the parking. Cierra recommends parking at the outlets if the flower fields lot is full.
The Flower Fields are open from March 1st through May 12th [9AM – 6PM daily]. Admission is $18 for adults [$17 for AAA members], $16 for seniors [60+], and $9 for children [3-10]. They do accept credit cards, however, there are food stands and wagon rides inside that are cash only.
Visiting this attraction is absolutely worth it in my opinion. Let me know if you’ve ever been to the Flower Fields or plan to go!
