On our visit to New York last month, I finally got the opportunity to have Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Since it’s opening in late 2017, I’ve wanted to dine at the Blue Box Cafe on Fifth Avenue. The restaurant originally didn’t offer reservations but after dealing with large crowds for a few months, they opted for online reservations through Resy.
Before we dive into my experience, we need to go over the most crucial part: how to score a reservation.
- Reservations can be made 30 days in advance at 9AM EST
- Reservations must only be made through Resy
- Make an account in advance and be logged in
- Opt for the Resy app – Joe tried on the website the first day (didn’t get one) and tried the app the next day (got a reservation)
- Sign up for waitlists if someone drops their reservation (Joe got us a backup reservation this way so I had options!)
Now onto the best part: the experience. We had an early reservation (10:15AM) and they open at 10. We showed up at 10 and they seated us almost immediately. The restaurant was less than half full. A lot of people were dressed in black and pearls – I wish I’d planned ahead and done that. It was cute!
The breakfast is a pre-fixe with fruit, croissants, choice of entree, and coffee or tea for $32/person. I went for the avocado toast and added on the egg for an additional charge. The bowl of fruit and croissant were both small but fruit bowl had pink blueberries, which was a fun twist. I was happy with my entree choice – the avocado toast was really filling. There was a good amount of avocado and the sunflower seeds and eggs really added to it.
The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of Tiffany’s. Several tables line the windows and show a hint of Central Park. Since we had an early reservation, we had no problem getting a window seat. The fourth floor also has the home section so there’s plenty to browse while waiting for your table. The decor is obviously adorable. Everything is Tiffany’s blue from the salt shakers to the booths. Our waitress was really friendly and didn’t rush us through our meal at all. Everything came out in a timely manner and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Was it worth it? Personally I think it’s absolutely worth having breakfast at Tiffany’s once. The food was good, the service was good, and we both enjoyed the ambiance. It’s a little pricey but I absolutely recommend going once for the experience. If you want more recommendations for New York City, I shared 50 things to do in the city a couple years back.
