One of my favorite things about living in California again is having amazing wineries at my fingertips. Napa is only an hour and a half from San Jose and is the perfect getaway on a sunny Saturday. Joe and I are spoiled by friends who live in Napa and has gotten to explore a handful of wineries in the area. Let’s dive into my favorites!
Black Stallion: This spot is a great starting point. You can find it on the Silverado Trail. It’s calm and has a fun vibe. There is an outdoor lounge tasting space. On the weekends, they offer corn hole. The stallion fountain out front is a great photo opt as well.
Mumm: I’m a lover of sparkling wines so Mumm is perfect for me. Mumm serves primarily bubbly in their tasting room. They also offer tours. They now offer reservations for parties under five!
V. Sattui: Our friends introduced us to this gem. V. Sattui is a family-owned winery that opened in 1976. In addition to their tasting room, they feature a deli and picnic grounds (with weekend bbq and a food truck). Since it’s a busy place, I recommend coming early if you want to eat and taste.
Domaine Chandon: Chandon is such a fun winery. They offer tastings and sparkling wine cocktails. They have a large patio and offer some fun events. Cross over the little bridge, wonder through the store, and make your way up to their tasting room.
Castello di Amorosa: Saving the best for last! Castello di Amorosa is a 13th century-style castle. I went during my bridal shower weekend and everyone loved it. Tastings are $30/person and there is a $6 chocolate tasting add on option. This winery does get busy so I recommend arriving early, especially since they don’t take reservations for parties under 15.
As a bonus, I wanted to include one restaurant recommendation: Restoration Hardware Yountville. Yountville is tucked in Napa Valley and filled with amazing restaurants. Joe and I visited the Restoration Hardware restaurant for our anniversary. It is stunning. There are chandeliers above each table, trees filling up the room, and gorgeous fountains (one is behind me in the photo above).
