Since Joe and I only moved to San Jose at the beginning of the year, we’ve been trying to explore the South Bay as much as possible. Several people recommended the Municipal Rose Garden in the heart of San Jose. The garden features over 180 varieties of roses, which typically bloom between April and November.
We waited until June to visit and had to dodge high schoolers taking their prom photos left and right. The garden is spacious so even during the busiest moments, you can find a serene spot for a picnic or nap in the sun. Tons of couples and groups were scattered throughout the garden.
Summer picnics are one of my favorite things. Joe and I even got this picnic basket for our wedding. We stopped by Whole Foods and stocked up on goodies for our feast – we picked up cheese, pretzels, snap peas, cookies, and kombucha. It was a lovely afternoon and the rose garden in San Jose is a great spot to visit in the South Bay! If you’re looking for more California day trips, I have several posts here.
