Over the weekend, Joe and I made our way over to Half Moon Bay to pick sunflowers. Through a quick search, I found that sunflowers are still in season and Andreotti Family Farms (in Half Moon Bay) has u pick sunflower fields. Andreotti is a family owned farm that has been open since 1926. They also have a produce stand about a mile away so make sure you go to 800 Cabrillo Highway North if you want to pick sunflowers!
Andreotti charges $5 admission/person, which includes five sunflowers. They ask you to cut their sunflowers at the base and trim them out in the fields. They hand you shears and send you on your way.
I recommend wearing closed toe shoes – I wore flip flops and regretted it. Aside from the dust and dirt, it’s easy to trip over sunflower stumps and there are tons of bees. Don’t worry, neither of us were stung!
There was also a pumpkin patch right next door. If you know anything about me, you probably know that I love a good pumpkin patch. One of my favorite memories of our time on the East Coast was visiting orchards and pumpkin patches in autumn. Last year I shared my favorite orchards in New York and New Jersey.
We picked up three Cinderella pumpkins that we plan to stack – I’m already seeing this trend a lot and love it! I was really happy with everything we brought home. The sunflowers look gorgeous on our dining table. I recommend visiting the sunflower fields in Half Moon Bay before sunflower season ends!
