Last summer I tried on a pair of denim shorts and it changed my life. I used to wear shorts growing up but was always embarrassed that I didn’t have a thigh gap. I know a lot of us struggle with insecurities around shorts. Between finding some shorts I love and finding a way to avoid thigh chafe (hello Thigh Rescue!), I’m really enjoying wearing shorts much more frequently now. It motivated me to create this plus size shorts guide.
Denim Shorts
Finding a great pair of plus size denim shorts is a challenge! Sadly the pair I fell in love with last summer is no longer available – although these are similar. I recently picked up these denim shorts and they are a dream. They button up the front and are tight enough in the waist without being too tight. They have a great stretch to them and I love the frayed hem. I’ve been eyeing these mom shorts and will share an update on Instagram if I get them.
White Shorts
The summer staple. White shorts are the epitome of summer of my eyes. I picked up these white shorts this year. I really like the length and they have the perfect amount of distressing. These pair well with a cute striped top and some sandals.
Paper Bag Shorts
I picked these paper bag shorts up last summer because I liked the look and they seemed really comfortable. These shorts are soft and stretchy. I prefer wearing them with a fitted shirt since the shorts are pretty loose. They are easy to throw on and are great on vacation!
Athletic Shorts
I’m pretty particular about athletic shorts but I’ve always loved Nike. I got athletic shorts earlier this year to wear on cleaning and errand days. Also I’m in the market for a good pair of bike shorts. I’m considering these or these – I’ve had a good experience with both of those brands.
