As we enter the summer months, we’re likely getting into the kitchen more often. We’re baking pies for potlucks, preparing that fresh summer salad and getting into the berries and stone fruit. I personally love cooking in the summer months because it feels like so much is in season. Berry picking is one of my favorite summer activities. However, this extra cooking requires more clean up. Cue my clean kitchen checklist.
DAILY
On a daily basis (or thereabouts), I wipe the counters, do the dishes and take out the trash. While these tasks are great for keeping my kitchen clean, there is one thing we tend to over look: keeping the garbage disposal fresh. I use Arm & Hammer Garbage Disposal Cleaner to clean and deodorize. These have the power of baking soda and leave behind a fresh scent. They are also really easy to use. First, run the garbage disposal and water for one minute – this will make sure it’s free of any food. Then, turn off the disposal and turn down the water. Finally, drop a capsule into your disposal and turn on the disposal for 15 seconds. I recommend using these twice each week.
WEEKLY
On a weekly basis, I vacuum the floors and steam mop. Sometimes I also run my robotic vacuum because the floors often need it! Our counters get cluttered quickly so I try to clean those off every weekend. I always wrap up my cleaning sessions by turning on my essential oil diffuser. I love citrus scents like orange or lemon. There are a few other tasks that I do less frequently. Those include cleaning the microwave and stove, decluttering the pantry and cleaning out my fridge and freezer. I typically do these tasks monthly (or sometimes even less often!).
I hope this clean kitchen checklist inspired you to freshen up your home this summer! Make sure you pick up Arm & Hammer Garbage Disposal Cleaner to keep things clean! For more cleaning tips, check out this post.
